New Born Baby Rabbits - Fundamental Tips You Should Know

Thirty days is the minimum number of days to wait before new born baby rabbits come out of their mother rabbit's womb. Soon after, furry little creatures are bound to consume food and water in the nest. During that time, pet owners will be busy checking if mama doe does her maternal chore correctly like making the baby rabbits comfortable and warm enough as well as feeding her babies.


Even though rabbits build their nest, mama doe does not remain in the nest for long. Naturally, they depart the nest following the initial feeding time. This behavior of the mother rabbit, on the other hand, attracts the interest of predators which maybe lurking just around the corner waiting for the right timing to victimize newborn rabbits. Every mother rabbit does not act like some other mother animals because she does not foster new born baby rabbits for long. This is why you as the owner, you are tasked to provide care when mother rabbit goes off.


There are useful tips to help raisers care for baby rabbits. At the outset, you need a box that measures right for the mother and babies. Make sure to provide the box with hay or straw. Add softwood shavings. Additionally, the temperature of her box should be warm for these new born baby rabbits.


Observe the mother rabbit if is feeding her litters. Should she fails, the owners must provide the babies with something to nourish them such as the kitten formula replacer. Any eye dropper is not advisable for use because they are not constantly appropriate for feeding litters. As an alternative, get an oral syringe. Remember to clean new born baby rabbits after feeding them.


If the babies' urine obtains a grainy brown color, instantly call a trusted vet. This change in urine color can be dangerous for the litter's health. If you notice that they are dehydrated, prepare pedialyte in order to replace water in their bodies. Be sure that your house is also safe for the infants.


Fruit juices as well as cow's milk are not allowed for new born baby rabbits as their ingredients might bring messy feces. Mama does likewise need more foods such as pellets because they basically require more calories. Calorie is essential in producing ample milk for the little babies. Lactobacillus acidophilus is suggested to be added in the mother rabbit's milk to strengthen their systems.
